I often thought about making a career change into software development, but it wasn’t until I found Launch School that I felt confident that I could make that ambition a reality. The mastery-based focus on fundamentals of the core program combined with the advanced concepts and rigor of the Capstone program not only prepared me for a job that I love, but gave me the tools and ability to thrive in this new career.

The mastery-based methodology resonated with me from the get go, because it emphasized an approach that was focused on mastering the fundamentals rather than just sitting through some program or course for some arbitrary amount of time. This was important to me because I was not interested in learning a collage of random topics, but how to think, problem solve, and build like an engineer.

The Capstone program dovetailed perfectly with the fundamentals in the core program and took everything to the next level. It got my fellow students and me ready to do great work as software engineers. Beyond continuing our learning and building on that foundation, we learned how to approach problems like engineers, which we got to put to the test when challenged to come up with and implement our Capstone project. This really pushed the boundaries of our understanding and abilities, and we surprised ourselves with how far we had come by the end of the program.
