Landed a Mid-Level Software Engineering Role
I never thought I’d be making 6 figures in my twenties but I just landed my number 1 choice company and in a mid-level Software Engineering role just two weeks after completing Capstone.
The Launch School road is slow, oftentimes lonely, and definitely not easy, but there is a pot of gold waiting at the end of it for those who can get there. I never thought I'd be making 6 figures in my twenties but I just landed my number 1 choice company and in a mid-level Software Engineering role just two weeks after completing Capstone.
You're probably wondering how this is possible and I don't fault you for your skepticism. A year ago I also read through these testimonials in disbelief. So how does Launch School manage to get these kind of results?
First off, the community here is absolute gold. There are no egos in the Slack channel or forums, and everyone is super supportive. The TA's are quick to answer any questions and are themselves, top notch developers who have absolutely mastered the fundamentals of programming. I won't talk about the core curriculum much but in short, literally everything in there is important and in demand by employers. In my opinion, the structure of the curriculum alone is worth the subscription fee.
The Capstone program is a different beast and is what propelled me to my current position. However, I can't say that I would recommend it for everyone. Days can get really long and your willpower will be tested. It also requires you to set aside at least 3 months completely which isn't something everyone can do.
That being said, I absolutely loved it. Being challenged to think algorithmically and optimizing solutions are skills that got hammered into me. I learned how to approach and solve problems I never thought were possible. But the magic of Capstone really happens because of the team. When you put 3 extremely driven developers who have solid fundamentals together, great things start to happen. The instructors know this, which is also why Capstone is selective. Your teammates are really is the secret sauce of Capstone.
If you're still on the fence about Launch School, just go through the plethora of 5 star reviews. And if that doesn't help, just enrol for 1 month to test the waters!
Going to end off on a little cliche here but going through Launch School was definitely one of the best decisions of my life!
