Back to Coding after Ten Years

Bottom line, complete this program and you will have all the skills you need to land a job or build your own products

I finished off the Launch School curriculum a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. Having not done any coding for over 10 years the self-paced nature of the program was ideal for me. I actually can't believe how much I have managed to learn and what I can build now! At the time they hadn't introduced the front-end courses and I was one of the first to check out the front-end material as they were testing it. It has proven to be very useful.

I think this style of learning is the perfect balance between a full on bootcamp and some of the typical online courses you might have taken. You can work in your own time but the TAs are always available and the code reviews massively improve your code.

I'm also happy to report that I started my first job with a web development company a few weeks ago here in Edinburgh called Primate (http://primate.co.uk/). I'm working with Rails, Javascript/jQuery (hopefully React soon), some PHP, CSS and they want me to work on the server side soon and setting up with Chef. The variety is awesome and with all the languages, I'm learning tons. The company are keen to keep trying new languages and frameworks which is amazing and will keep me on my toes!
